Responding to Intimate Partner Violence and Homelessness During COVID-19

At the start of the pandemic, People’s Health Solutions formed partnerships with numerous community organizations to uplift voices of survivors to prevent violence and homelessness.

On October 31, 2020 we published our report and policy brief in partnership with Hub for Urban Initiatives, “Responding to Intimate Partner Violence and Homelessness in Los Angeles County during a Time of COVID-19.” It is the product of an intensive four months of rapid-response research with the help of community partners, including TransLatin@ Coalition, Positive Results Center, and Downtown Women’s Center. Our research was made possible by Conrad N. Hilton Foundation and University of Southern California Homeless Policy Research Institute.

We took a specific focus on communities of color, transgender and gender non-conforming survivors, immigrants, and unsheltered individuals disproportionately impacted by COVID-19.

PHS and our partners presented our research at a symposium hosted by USC Homeless Policy Research Institute (see presentation slide deck and highlight reel). Findings helped contribute to local policies and grants to keep survivors safe and housed.
